Dear Reader,

I had a long conversation with my favorite beta reader a few nights ago. She asked me what it might require to turn the Draoithe Saga tales into anime-style videos. I’ve dreamed of it for quite some time, but at the moment, it would mean selling the film rights and giving up control of parts of the dream.

I think I’d rather wait for AI technology to progress to the point I could maintain creative control. But that wasn’t why I called her.

I needed help with story order, and she’s the best at ensuring the tales are published in the best reading order possible. Thanks to her advice, I realized that a story I originally believed belonged to Druid Dominion was mis-titled and actually belongs in the next miniseries. Also, a different story should be the final chapter in Druid Dominion.

All this raised questions about the miniseries following Druid Dominion. Should it retain its title? I’m leaning toward reorganizing it and creating a more appropriate title. This would mean yet another title change for Still Waters, but the Draoithe Saga is a living work. It’s difficult to wrangle such an unwieldy beast.

I want to present the Draoithe Saga to readers in the best form, in the most accurate order. Sometimes, changes must be made. All of this was part of the backstory for the Great Takedown. Revising, reorganizing, and republishing the Draoithe Saga has become a full-time job with no end in sight.

Stranger still, I’m still writing the stories in several of the unfinished miniseries. So bear with me as I write, edit, and publish the stories of the dream as fast as I can while maintaining an appropriate level of quality. I won’t stop until I write The End.

Behind the Scenes

I enjoy building the stories in the dream. Whatever the muse thinks up, I look for a way to add that into the story. The art, videos, and audio are all part of that insane scheme. But when I view the Draoithe Saga through a business lens, I realize much of what I create and post does nothing for the bottom line. It simply takes up a lot of time.

It matters that the dream exists more as my method of escape rather than as a need to sustain myself financially. Many authors must abandon projects and devote their time to certain tasks out of a necessity to move the income graph line up and to the right. If things were reversed for me, I too would need to delete much of what I spend time on.

In this respect, writing the Draoithe Saga has always been more of a hobby than a business, no matter how much I might want it the other way. I think all authors believe it would be wonderful if they could earn a living from their stories, but I’m under no illusions that this will happen for me. Instead, I remain sincerely grateful to all who have supported the dream. The little things still drive me to continue publishing.

It’s more than a story; it’s an experience. The grand escape of the Draoithe Saga remains my stress relief, and if you’ve found it, I hope the dream offers the same luxury for you as well.
